Brown Leads Bobcat Women’s Cross Country at University of Florida Race

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – The Georgia College Women's Cross Country team battled Saturday morning at the Mountain Dew Invitational, a mixed-division meet at the University of Florida. The Bobcats finished 21st of 35 teams.

The Bobcats finished 12th among non-Division I schools in the 5K race with 610 team points, just 24 behind Lynn University.

Junior Sydney Brown (Canton, Georgia) led the Bobcats by taking 46th in the massive 306-runner field. Brown crossed the line in 19:32 to lead the Bobcats for the second time this season. Second on the team and 146th overall was freshman Bailey Brackin (Douglasville, Georgia), owning a 21:09 effort.

Senior Madison Bowers (Cumming, Georgia) finished in 21:35, good for 160th place, while junior Sarah Mae McGowan (Johns Creek, Georgia) owned 168th in 21:45. Rounding out the scoring finishes was senior Grace Lynch (Snellville, Georgia) in 193rd at 22:15.

The GC Women finished ahead of a pair of Division I programs, as Jacksonville University was took 27th and Bethune-Cookman University 30th.

The Bobcats are back in action Friday, Sept. 17 at the Queen City Invite, hosted by Queens University.
