Yost Sets School Records, Bobcat Women Third at Bulldog Stampede

WINGATE, N.C. – Senior Katherine Yost (Norcross, Georgia) the school records for career race wins in Saturday's action, as the most decorated runner in Georgia College Women's Cross Country history took the title at the Bulldog Stampede at Wingate University, leading the Bobcats to a third-place finish.

Yost ran the 6K in 22:25, taking first in the 132-runner field. The victory was the fourth win for Yost in school history, setting a school record for career wins. The previous mark of three was owned by Cheryl Bambrick (1999) and Bethany Loushine (2003).

The Bobcats placed three runners in the top-20, with sophomore Grace Lynch (Lawrenceville) taking 19th place in 25:09. Freshman Tessa Allen (Atlanta) took 20th place in 25:12.

Fourth on the team and 29th overall was freshman Sydney Brown (Canton) crossing the line at 25:25. Rounding out the scorers just 14 seconds later was sophomore Anna Tipton (Hartwell) in 32nd place.

"Our ladies performed right where I thought they would," said head coach Steven Cary. "Grace, Tessa and Sydney all showed some consistency today, and it was encouraging to see Anna back in the mix. Overall, our ladies ran strong and worked well together. They're improving every week.

The Bobcats finished with 101 team points, good for third place. Georgia College beat a trio of Peach Belt Conference (PBC) schools in the 19-team field, topping Francis Marion University, USC Aiken and Lander University.

The Bobcats are back in action Friday, Oct. 6 hosting the annual Bobcat Invitational.
