GCSU Cross Country’s Raines Helps Garner National PRSSA Award

MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. - Senior Heather Raines (Lawrenceville, Ga.) of the Georgia College & State University cross country team recently picked up some hardware off the course, as she led a team in the National CW/Public Relations Student Society of America (PRSSA) Competition to a first-place finish.

Raines served as account executive for the "Ladies Lawn Night" event, leading the team of Lauren Chandley, Ann Cole and Katie Farmer.

Marking the first time Bobcat PRSSA has entered in national competition, teams from Georgia College took first and second in the results. The runner-up finish went to the "What's Your Scandal" of Bailey Abercrombie, Tyler Bryant, Yasmiene Davis and Claire Dykes.

All of the students are in the capstone Public Relations Campaign course in the Department of Mass Communication, as taught by Dr. Ginger Carter Miller.

Raines had a great final season on the course for the Bobcats, twice winning Peach Belt Conference (PBC) Runner of the Week.
