WINGATE, N.C. – After a thrilling season which featured a second-place finish in the Peach Belt Conference (PBC) Tournament and the team’s second-ever NCAA Regional appearance, the Georgia College Volleyball team continues to receive recognition.
Seniors Kayla Brockway (Jacksonville, Florida) and Taylor Svehla (Cumming, Georgia) both finished their Georgia College careers strong, earning selection to the NCAA Southeast Regional All-Tournament team for their performance in the Bobcats’ two Southeast Regional matches. The All-Tournament honors are just the second and third in the Georgia College Volleyball program’s brief history, with Chandler Ewaldsen receiving the team’s first ever All-Tournament selection last year.
Svehla was a key part of the Bobcats’ success in the Southeast Regional, leading the team with 35 kills in the two matches, including 21 in the Bobcats’ heartbreaking 3-2 loss to USC Aiken. After being held without a kill by Augusta University in set one, she would storm back, recording six kills in two of the last three frames, leading the team to a 3-1 victory.
Brockway made history as she finished her collegiate career with a double-double in Georgia College’s win over Augusta, adding 41 assists, 18 digs, two blocks, and six kills. She would follow up that performance by setting a school record of 61 assists against USC Aiken, including another 14 digs and two blocks.
