MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. – The Georgia College Volleyball team (14-9, 6-4 PBC) extended its win streak to three in a sweep of Francis Marion University (13-13, 4-7 PBC) Saturday at home for Senior Day. Senior Kayla Brockway (Jacksonville, Florida) reached the 4,000 assist milestone in the third set of today's action.
The milestone came on Brockway's 33rd assist of the match, a set that sophomore Emma Boughner (Bogart) put down for a 12-8 lead in the third.
The Bobcats took the three sets with relative ease, 25-16, 25-17 and 25-16. Georgia College trailed just once on the day, that coming at 2-1 in the third set.
Brockway finished with 39 assists, eight digs and five kills. Leading the attack was fellow senior Taylor Svehla (Cumming) with 14. Svehla hit a whopping .407 on 27 attacks, adding two blocks and four digs. Sophomore Libby Bochniak (Marietta) tallied 13 kills, her fourth-straight match in double-digits.
The win puts GC Volleyball at 6-4 in Peach Belt Conference (PBC) play, tied for third with Lander University. The Bobcats have two conference matches left.
Prior to the match, the Bobcat Athletic Department honored both Brockway and Svehla as they played in their final home contest of the season.
GC Volleyball is back in action Friday, Nov. 2 at 7 p.m., traveling to Lander.
