INDIANAPOLIS Ind. – Georgia College (12-7) is ranked ninth overall in the Southeast Region for the first round of the NCAA Division II Women's Tennis Regional Rankings, released Wednesday.

The Bobcats are the fifth Peach Belt Conference (PBC) team ranked in the poll. Columbus State University tops the conference in second. Flagler College follows in third. University of North Georgia takes sixth and USC Aiken is eighth on the list.

The NCAA poll is used to determine the four at-large bids for the NCAA Southeast Regional starting May 11. The winners of the three championship tournaments in the PBC, South Atlantic Conference and Conference Carolinas receive automatic bids. The remaining four spots are determined by the final version of this poll.

Georgia College will need to move up into the top-seven to receive a bid in the NCAA Southeast Regional Championship. If the Bobcats can qualify, it would be the 25th straight time that the team would play in the NCAA Tournament.

GC Women's Tennis starts their postseason run in the PBC Tournament Quarterfinal Friday, April 19 at noon against the USC Aiken Pacers. The two teams will meet on a neutral court at Francis Marion University in Florence, South Carolina.
