ATLANTA, Ga. – No. 41 Georgia College Women's Tennis (12-4) posted its fifth shutout of the 2019 season Wednesday, traveling to Clark Atlanta University (11-3) for a 7-0 non-conference win. The victory was the 300th on the women's side for head coach Steve Barsby at GC.
The Bobcats took the doubles point with a sweep.
Sophomore Emilia Richter (Berlin, Germany) teamed with freshman Jordan Bowie (Macon) to clinch the doubles point with a 6-4 win over Alexis Fletcher and Akilah Parker. Senior Paula Garriga (Barcelona, Spain) and sophomore Kim Yatribi (Frejus, France) added another 6-4 win in the third slot over Vanessa Eusebio and Madison Majors.
Yatribi brought in the first singles finish, taking the first set from Majors and leading 4-0 in the second before winning by retirement. Lopez then shut out Saran Lloyd in the second slot, then Fleming clinched the team win by taking down Ramdyhan 6-2, 6-0.
In sixth singles, Bowie topped Fletcher 6-0, 6-1. Then came a 6-3, 6-2 win for No. 58 Richter over Eusebio. Garriga then finished the sweep with a 7-6, 6-0 match over Parker in the fifth slot.
The win helps the Bobcats improve to 3-0 in road matches, and 7-3 in non-conference action.
The Bobcats are back in action Thursday, April 4 at 3 p.m., traveling to No. 36 USC Aiken (12-2, 4-2 PBC). The Pacers most recently lost at No. 28 Flagler College 7-0 Sunday.
