FLORENCE, S.C. – The No. 19 Georgia College Women's Tennis Team (20-8) fell in the Peach Belt Conference (PBC) Tournament Third Place match 5-1 to No. 10 Flagler College (20-6) Sunday at Francis Marion University.
The Saints jumped out to a quick 3-0 lead by sweeping doubles.
Senior Camille Clausse-Pujo (Bordeaux, France) and junior Macy Polk (Powder Springs, Georgia) put up the biggest fight, falling in extra points to Felicitas Runkel and Thaisa Pereira 9-7 in the second slot.
The other two bouts each finished with 8-4 scores. Senior Katie Krupp (Evans, Georgia) and sophomore Jena Kelly (Lawrenceville, Georgia) lost to Mary Jo Nanti and Kelly Burge in the first slot, while junior Hannah Serdinia (Suwanee, Georgia) and sophomore Emma Niemi (Cumming, Georgia) lost to Lizanne Jinkertz and Laura Kelly in third doubles.
The first singles result was a win for Georgia College, as All-PBC Second Team pick Clausse-Pujo beat Jinkertz 6-4, 6-3. Flagler got its remaining two team points in the fifth and sixth slots. Krupp dropped a match to Kelly 7-5, 6-2 in fifth singles, while Serdinia lost to Runkel 6-2, 6-3.
The Bobcats will now await the selection of the NCAA Southeast Regional field, the announcement is set for Tuesday, May 3 at 8:30 p.m. on NCAA.com.
