SKILLMAN, N.J. – In the most recent edition of the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) National Rankings, the Georgia College women’s tennis team (8-4, 5-1 PBC) jumped 11 slots to No. 15 in the nation.
The Bobcats have put together a strong season, as they have defeated two nationally-ranked opponents. The first was then-No. 30 Flagler University, taking the match 5-4. The second victory came against Valdosta State University, who was sitting at the No. 11 slot in the nation.
Georgia College is the third-highest Peach Belt Conference (PBC) team in the poll, behind No. 1 Armstrong State University and No. 9 Columbus State University. The remaining teams in the top five are Barry University, BYU-Hawaii, Nova Southeastern University, and Saint Leo University.
Three more PBC teams trail the Bobcats in the rankings. Jumping 12 positions, but behind Georgia College one slot, is Flagler at No. 16. The two other PBC squads in the top-30 are No. 29 Lander University and No. 30 Francis Marion University.
The Georgia College women’s tennis team will be back in action March 27, as they hit the road to Savannah, Ga. to take on No. 26 Concordia University at 10 a.m.
