MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. – Junior Camille Clausse-Pujo (Bordeaux, France), of the Georgia College tennis team (14-4, 9-1 PBC) was named Bobcat Athlete of the Week. Clausse-Pujo continues to shine during the Bobcat's six-match win streak, going 4-0 on the week in two matches.
She dominated her opponents this week in singles play, allowing only seven total points in two contests.
The week was started with a match against USC Aiken. Alongside teammate Kristen Jones (Marietta), dominated the number one slot for doubles action, taking the contest, 8-0 over Oliver Veskovac and Sarah Bernos. Clausee-Pujo continued her strong play into singles, overpowering her opponent Shauna Williams 6-0, 6-3, assisting her team in the 9-0 win over the Pacers.
The second match of the week was Saturday against No. 29 Lander University. The duo of Clausse-Pujo and Jones took down Marion Courbis and Renata Mello of the Bearcats, 8-5. The Bobcat followed her doubles performance with a straight-set victory over Courbis for Lander, 6-0, 6-4.
The junior is 10-8 in doubles play this season and 9-6 in singles action with a four-match win-streak in the number one singles slot.
The original game scheduled for today, April 7 at Brenau University was postponed. The Bobcat team returns to action as they host Georgia Southwestern State University Saturday, April 11 at 1 p.m. at the Centennial Center Tennis Facility.
