#26 Bobcat Women Sunk by #12 Lakers, 7-2

MORROW, Ga. – The No. 26 Georgia College women's tennis team (12-7, 7-4 PBC) dropped their second match in as many days at No. 12 Clayton State University (10-5, 7-3 PBC) Monday, 7-2.

The Bobcats fell behind the Lakers 3-0 in doubles. May Johnson (Sydney, Australia) and Michelle Lingner (Dunwoody, Ga.) played out of the No. 1 doubles spot for the first time this season but were defeated by Viktoriya Semyrodenko and Ivana Krommelova, 8-5. Kayla Barksdale (Augusta, Ga.) partnered with Kim Lochner (Neu-Isenburg, Germany) for the first time as well this season and fell to Katie White and Marie Cercelletti, 8-1.

In third doubles, Lisa Setyon (Paris, France) and Kelly Edwards (Roswell, Ga.) dropped their bout to Martina Dedaj and Jessica Budd, 8-2.

With senior Bertille Lion (Lyon, France) out, Johnson stepped into the No. 1 singles position for only the second time this season but was downed by Semyrodenko, 6-1, 6-1. Barksdale got GC's first win of the day beating White in a three set marathon, 6-4, 2-6, 10-6. Lochner was toppled by Krommelova, 6-0, 6-3.

Setyon got GC back on track as she snuck past Cercelletti in the No. 4 spot, 6-1, 2-6, 10-5. With that victory she improved to 14-3 on the season and is undefeated in the fourth slot, 2-0. Lingner lost in a heartbreaker at five singles to Dedaj, 7-5, 6-7 (3-7), 10-3. Edwards ended the day for the 'Cats losing out to Budd in straight sets, 6-3, 6-3.

Up next, the Bobcat women travel to Brenau University for a non-conference matchup Thursday, April 7 slated for a 2 p.m. start.
