#30 GC Women Dominate North Georgia, 8-1

MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. – The No. 30 Georgia College women's tennis team (7-3, 4-2 PBC) demolished the North Georgia Saints (5-5, 2-4 PBC) at the Centennial Center Tennis Facility Thursday afternoon, 8-1. 

The Bobcats took the doubles portion of the match, 2-1. Kayla Barksdale (Augusta, Ga.) and Bertille Lion (Lyon, France) dropped GC's first match of the day to Laura Chapman and Stasa Vujosevic, 8-2. GC would not surrender a match for the rest of the afternoon. May Johnson (Sydney, Australia) and Michelle Lingner (Dunwoody, Ga.) got the first win of the afternoon for the Bobcats, downing Juliana Chiang and Jordan Poole, 8-2. The 'Cats won 8-3 in the third slot when Lisa Setyon (Paris, France) and Kelly Edwards (Roswell, Ga.) toppled Audrey Marlette and Matilda Watson, 8-3.

GC continued their dominance in singles against the Saints going 6-0. Lion played in the No. 1 slot edging out Chapman, 5-7, 7-6, 7-5. Down 5-1 in the third set, Lion rallied for a six-game run to beat Chapman. Johnson beat Vujosevic in the second singles, 6-1, 6-2. Barksdale continued her dominance defeating Chiang, 6-1, 6-1, improving her record to a team-best 7-2.

Lochner played out of the No. 4 spot, sneaking past Marlette, 3-6, 7-5, 6-3, improving her record to 7-3 with a streak of four straight. Setyon had another strong performance defeating Poole, 6-4, 6-2 and Lingner finished the day beating Watson, 6-0, 6-2.

The Bobcats will travel to Lander University tomorrow, March 11 for a 2 p.m. start.
