GC Softball Earns #4 Spot in NCAA Regional Ranking

INDIANAPOLIS – The Georgia College softball team (34-16) placed fourth in the most recent NCAA Southeast Regional Ranking.  

The Bobcats recently finished the regular season tied for second place in the Peach Belt Conference (PBC), the highest regular season finish for Bobcat softball since 2009.

Eight teams will earn a place at the NCAA Southeast Regional Tournament, with automatic bids for the winner of the Conference Carolinas (CC), South Atlantic Conference (SAC) and PBC tournaments, along with five at-large bids for the top-five remaining regionally ranked teams.

Fellow PBC member The University of North Georgia ranks No. 3 on the regional rankings, having finished tied with the Bobcats for second. Armstrong ranks No. 1 in the region, having finished as the PBC regular season champions. Lenoir-Rhyne University ranks at No. 2 in the region while placing third in the SAC and Anderson University, rounds out the top-5 in the region after finishing second in the SAC.

The Bobcats will next take the field Saturday, April 20 at 6:30 p.m. when they take on Francis Marion University in the first round of the PBC Tournament.
