#21 Bobcats Finish Second in PBC Regular Season, Drop Doubleheader Against #3 Armstrong 2-0 and 4-0

SAVANNAH, Ga. – The No. 21 Georgia College softball team (34-16, 16-6 PBC) dropped both games against the No. 3 Armstrong Pirates to end the regular season Tuesday afternoon. With the losses the Bobcats finish the regular season in a tie for second place in the Peach Belt Conference (PBC) with No. 6 University of North Georgia.

Both games were pitchers duels, with only two runs scored in the first game and the score being deadlocked at 0-0 in the second game until the fifth inning.

Dani Gallucci (Orlando, Fla.) pitched a complete game, only allowed two earned runs, both occurring in the second inning. She held Armstrong to seven hits while only walking two. Megan Barnwall fulfilled the other half of the pitcher's duel, as she went the full seven innings for the Pirates, giving up three hits and three walks while keeping the Bobcats off the scoreboard.

Marisa Boyette (Marietta, Ga.) battled against Rachel Reynolds in the second game. The two held hitters to a combined nine hits, four for the Bobcats and five for the Pirates.

The game finished four innings locked in a 0-0 tie. Reynolds helped her own cause in the fifth inning, hitting a two-run home run. The Pirates added another two runs in the sixth inning with a home run by Alexis Mercer.

The Bobcats finish the year with a 34-16 record overall and a 16-6 record in the PBC, with the overall wins being the most for GC softball since 2008. The second place finish is the highest for since the Bobcats finished their in 2009. They will head into the PBC Tournament at St. Augustine, Fla. as the No. 2-seed and will play Francis Marion University in the first round Saturday, April 20 at 6:30 p.m.
