Bobcat Men’s Cross Country Finishes Ninth at Regionals

WINGATE, N.C. – The Georgia College Men's Cross Country team took ninth at the 2017 NCAA Southeast Regional Saturday at Wingate University. The spot is a two-slot improvement over last year's finish.

The Bobcats were in ninth with 265 team points, just 14 behind eighth and Columbus State University. Georgia College finished fourth among Peach Belt Conference (PBC) schools, a quartet led by Augusta University in third. UNC Pembroke took seventh and CSU eighth. The University of Mount Olive of the Conference Carolinas won the Region Title.

Sophomore Collin Silliman (Douglasville, Georgia) led the team in 32nd overall, crossing the line in the 10K race at 33:30, good for the sixth-best time in school history.

Freshman Brennan Silliman (Douglasville, Georgia) was 40th, finishing in a personal-best 33:54. Senior James Galvin (Tucker, Georgia) wrapped up his career with a solid 52nd place finish, taking the race in 34:20.

Junior Austin Campbell (Cumming, Georgia) finished in 34:55, taking 67th place overall. Sophomore Shawn Olmstead (Buford, Georgia) rounded out the scoring finishes for the Bobcats in 81st place at 35:16.

The race wraps up the 2017 season for the Bobcat men, a year highlighted by race titles at the VSU Border Clash and the Winthrop/Adidas Invitational. The Bobcats also added three All-PBC honors in the same season for the first time in program history, as Collin Silliman, Brennan Silliman and Olmstead finished among the PBC's best.
