GC Men’s Cross Country Finishes Second at Bobcat Invitational

MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga.  – The Georgia College Men's Cross Country team showed well at their home invitational Saturday afternoon, finishing in second place as a team with their top-five all placing within the top-15 runners in a 17-team field.  Collin Silliman (Douglasville) and Brennan Silliman (Douglasville) led the way at the 2017 Bobcat Invitational for Georgia College, coming in at seventh and eighth respectively, separated by only six-tenths of a second.


The Silliman brothers kept pace with one another throughout the race with sophomore Collin Silliman recording a time of 26:21 and freshman Brennan Silliman clocking in just six-tenths of a second after, a personal best for the rookie.


The Bobcat men were running in packs Friday afternoon, with the three following Bobcats finishing simultaneously in 11th, 12th and 13thShawn Olmstead (Buford) led that group crossing the finish line in a time of 26:52, just five seconds behind the 10th place finisher. 


Next up for Georgia College was senior James Galvin (Tucker) who came in behind Olmstead with a time of 27:20.  Rounding things out for the Bobcats was freshman Matt Patterson (Cumming), finishing nine seconds behind Galvin with a time of 27:29 a personal best for Patterson.


The Georgia College Men had an impressive race recording a team score of 51, but finished runner-up to a dominant performance from the Augusta University Jaguars. The Jags nearly swept the field with their best five finishing in the top-six runners to finish with a final score of just 19.


The Bobcats are due up next when they travel to Columbus for the Peach Belt Conference (PBC) Championships Saturday, Oct. 21.
