MONTEVALLO, Ala. – Led by freshman Collin Silliman (Douglasville, Georgia) for the second-straight week, the Georgia College Men's Cross Country team finished 12th at the Montevallo Falcon Classic Saturday. The race served as a preview for the Bobcats, as they took to the same course at the University of Montevallo that will serve as host for the NCAA Southeast Regional this season.
Silliman finished the 8K race in 52nd place in the 136-runner field with a time of 27:17. Classmate Shawn Olmstead (Buford, Georgia) busted through at 27:50 in 71st place.
Sophomore Daniel Sexton (Cumming, Georgia) and junior Thomas Templeman (Snellville, Georgia) were the next two to finish for the Bobcats, 76th and 77th overall separated by less than a full second. Sexton recorded a 27:55.29, while Templeman was in at 27:56.01. Sophomore Brian Skoglind (Cumming, Georgia) was the final scoring runner at 85th place in 28:16.
The Bobcats finished with 286 team points, 17 behind Meridian Community College in 11th place. Georgia College finished ahead of the University of Auburn-Montgomery in the 13-team field.
The Bobcats are back in action Saturday, Sept. 24 at the Trevecca D2 Showcase, hosted by Trevecca Nazarene University.
