ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. – After a busy day of 36 holes in the Jay Jennison Cup, the Georgia College Golf team is tied for eighth at the close of play Monday. The Bobcats carded rounds of 304 and 306 to be tied with No. 17 Young Harris College.
Junior Daniel Davis (Columbus, Georgia) started off hot in his first action of the 2019-20 season, posting a team-low 71 in the opening 18 holes. After a second round 77 he's positioned 12th at four-over in the 75-golfer field.
Junior Alex Wells (Evans, Georgia) owned the team's best second-round effort with a 73, adding a 76 for five-over in 16th. Third on the team and 44th overall was sophomore Isaac Samples (Loganville, Georgia) with a pair of 78s for plus-12.
Of the seven teams ahead of Georgia College, three are ranked in the nation's top-25, including No. 3 University of West Florida, No. 6 Nova Southeastern University and No. 20 Rollins College.
The third and final round of the tourney comes tomorrow, Sept. 24, with an 8 a.m. shotgun start.
