Mancilla Fourth, Bobcats Ninth at PBC Championship Day Two

ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. – Junior Austin Mancilla (Lawrenceville, Georgia) is within striking distance at the 2019 Peach Belt Conference (PBC) Championships, hosted by Flagler College. Mancilla leads Georgia College Golf in fourth place, just three strokes off the lead.

The Bobcats are positioned ninth at plus-31, posting rounds of 299 and 308 on the par-72, 6,939-yard Slammer and Squire course.

Mancilla carded a 70 and 73 to get to his one-under effort. The junior had a great start to his day with a birdie on No. 10 and an eagle on the par-5 No. 11. He was 11 holes in before carding his first hole above par. He posted four more birdies in the second round.

Second on the squad and 15th overall in the 45-golfer field was freshman Hilton Beck (Macon, Georgia). Beck was four-over after a pair of 74s. He had three birdies in round one and four in round two. The only hole he birdied twice was the par-three No. 2.

Classmate Isaac Samples (Loganville, Georgia) is 37th at plus-14 after rounds of 77 and 81. Samples had birdies on Nos. 7 and 17 in round one, as well as the par-four No. 9 in round two.

Both junior Drew Duffie (Evans, Georgia) and sophomore Daniel Davis (Columbus, Georgia) finished the day in 42nd at 16-over par. Davis had a pair of 80s, while Duffie added a 78 and 82.

Host Flagler owns the team lead at three-over, six strokes ahead of No. 12 Young Harris College. The individual lead belongs to Flagler's Mauro Baez and YHC's Valter Andersson, both at four-under. Flagler's Charles Collings is third at three-under, two strokes ahead of Mancilla.

The third and final round gets underway tomorrow, April 21. The Bobcats will head to the course at 8 a.m., led by Samples and paired with golfers from Georgia Southwestern State University and the University of North Georgia.
