VALDOSTA, Ga. – With two golfers leading the way at even par, the Georgia College Golf squad holds 17th place at the First Federal Southeastern Collegiate Monday, hosted by Valdosta State University. The Bobcats are at plus-18 on the par-72, 7,365-yard Kinderlou Forest Golf Club after rounds of 299 and 295.
National No. 23 golfer Austin Mancilla (Lawrenceville) is low man for the Bobcats at two-over in 37th place in the 93-golfer field. He shot a 72 today to go with Sunday's 74. Today he had birdies on the par-four Nos. 1 and 18.
Sophomore Daniel Davis (Columbus) also shot 72 today, and coupled with yesterday's 77 jumps 10 slots to 56th place. Davis is five-over for the two rounds, and carded three birdies today.
Also in at 56th is junior Drew Duffie (Evans) shooting the 72 yesterday with today's 77. Freshman Hilton Beck (Macon) is 64th at six-over with rounds of 76 and 74. Junior Alex Wells (Evans) owns rounds of 78 and 80.
Of the 16 schools ahead of Georgia College in the standings, 10 are ranked in the nation's top-25. The team race is led by No. 1 Barry University at 10-under par, just a single stroke ahead of No. 3 University of West Florida. The other seven are No. 2 Lynn University, No. 5 Florida Southern College, No. 6 Florida Tech, No. 9 Nova Southeastern University, No. 15 Saint Leo University No. 19 Limestone College, No. 23 Columbus State University and No. 25 Georgia Southwestern State University.
The final round gets underway tomorrow, March 12. Wells will lead the team on the course at 10 a.m., as the Bobcats are paired with golfers from GSW and the University of Montevallo.
