ORLANDO, Fla. – Junior Harrison Stewart (Roswell, Georgia) is in ninth after the first round of the McDonough Cup Monday, leading a Georgia College golf squad that is positioned 15th among 22 teams. Round two was halted due to darkness, meaning the end of the second round and entire third will be played Tuesday.
The Bobcats shot a 293 in round one, good for five-over at the par-72, 6,955-yard Rio Pinar Country Club.
Stewart carded a 69 to lead the Bobcats after round one, a career-low round. Senior David Sullivan (Woodstock Georgia) owns a 74 in 68th place. A stroke behind in 79th was the pair of sophomore Thomas Hodges (Monroe, Georgia) and Conner Albright (Macon, Georgia). Junior Harry Lambert (Suwanee, Georgia) carded a 79.
No. 2 University of West Florida and No. 14 Flagler College share the team lead at nine-under with a 279. Of the 14 teams ahead of Georgia College, 12 are positioned in the top-25 of the GolfStat Head-to-Head rankings.
Joining Flagler and UWF are No. 1 Saint Leo University, No. 4 Florida Southern College, No. 5 Nova Southeastern University, No. 6 Barry University, No. 15 Georgia Southwestern State University, No. 17 Lynn University, No. 18 Carson-Newman University, No. 19 Lincoln Memorial University, No. 21 California Baptist University and host No. 24 Rollins College.
Round two resumes Tuesday, Oct. 27 at 8:15 a.m.
