The Georgia College Department of Athletics is proud to have alumna Kirstie Murner as it's head volleyball coach.
Murner has a degree in health education and a Master’s in kinesiology from Georgia College. She has spent quite some time coaching as the Allstar Cheerleading Coach at Middle Georgia Extreme Cheer, the cheerleading coach at Georgia Military College Prep School, and a High School Competition Judge for GISA Competition Cheerleading.
“We are excited to have Kristie leading our cheerleading program,” said athletic director Wendell Staton. “As a Georgia College graduate, she bleeds Bobcat blue and green, and her past experience as a Georgia College cheerleader makes her very familiar with the Peach Belt Conference. We look forward to all the positive energy she brings to our program.”
In addition to her coaching experience, she has also spent time as a Mentor for the GC Competition Cheerleading squad, where she helped new squad members with different aspects of cheerleading, along with their adjustment to college.
Murner is excited about the opportunity to remain close to her alma mater: “I am most excited about being a part of the program and school again and continuing to build the program's success.”
