MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. – Down as much as 8-2, the bats for No. 6 Georgia College Baseball (4-0) came alive late, keeping the perfect season intact in a 10-8 win over the University of West Georgia (0-4) Tuesday at John Kurtz Field. The Bobcats are the first team to 4-0 in the Peach Belt Conference (PBC).

Fresh off a three-game set scoring a total of 33 runs, the Bobcats stumbled out of the gate in this one. The Wolves busted out in front with a four-run third, including back-to-back two-run doubles.

Georgia College could only manage single runs in the third and fourth, and reached the bottom of the seventh trailing 8-2. That's when the Bobcats finally broke through.

A one-out double by Wesley Wommack (Monroe) started a string of five-straight hits. Third baseman Garrett Green (Bogart) sliced a single through the right side to bring in a pair, doubling Georgia College's score. After another single put two on, catcher Austin Holloway (Social Circle) drove in another with a single.

Second baseman Cassius Young (Atlanta) then drove in another with a single through the left side. An RBI groundout capped the scoring at five runs on five hits.

In the bottom of the eighth, down 8-7, the Bobcats got a single and a double, and had two runners in scoring position with two down. It was time once again for Green to come up big, slapping a single to center and bringing in two more runs for the first lead of the day. Insurance came in the form of Holloway, another RBI single for the 10-8 score.

Lefty Brad Spinner (Roswell) had a 1-2-3 eighth to get the win (1-0). Freshman righty Chris Rolick (Marietta) entered with one on in the ninth and got two strikeouts and a groundout for his first career save.

Green finished 3-for-5 with the four RBIs and two runs. Wommack, Holloway, centerfielder Cam Hill (Marietta), shortstop Cal Gentry (Perry) and senior Shane Connahan (Beaver Springs, Pennsylvania) each had two hits. Holloway posted two RBIs, Hill and Gentry two runs scored.

The Bobcats are back in action Friday, Feb. 8 at 6 p.m., playing host to No. 2 University of Tampa (1-2). The Spartans most recently beat No. 9 North Greenville University 11-5 Sunday.
