MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. – Junior catcher Brandon Purcell (Glennville) of the Georgia College Baseball team (35-15) has been named the final Bobcat Athlete of the Week for the 2016-17 season.
Purcell made an impact on the NCAA Southeast Regional this past week, going 4-for-9 (.444) with three RBIs and a run scored. His best game came in the loss to Lincoln Memorial University Friday, going 3-for-5 with a double, all three RBIs and his run scored.
The 2017 season has come to a close for Georgia College, a 35-15 season taking the No. 3-seed in the Peach Belt Conference (PBC) Tournament after going 16-8 in league play. The Bobcats were an offensive juggernaut, leading the country in batting average and runs per contest. GC Baseball put six on the All-PBC Teams, with Brandon Benson being named the PBC and Southeast Region Player of the Year, while Cal Gentry has taken a slot on the All-Region teams as well.
