GC Baseball’s Cook Named Semifinalist for D2 Player of the Year

OMAHA, Neb. – Semifinalists for the D2 Baseball News Tino Martinez Award, an honor given to the Division II Baseball Player of the Year, have been announced recently, with Georgia College senior second baseman Dylan Cook (Portola Valley, California) making the list.

Cook was one of just four Peach Belt Conference (PBC) student-athletes to make the semifinalists.

The fourth PBC Player of the Year in school history, Cook is a two-time All-PBC selection and was named all-region a year ago as well. The Bobcat senior finished the season with a .414 batting average, 14 home runs and 64 RBIs. The former gold glover added 63 runs scored and 23 steals as well.

The winner of the 2015 Tino Martinez Award will be named Monday, June 6 following the Division II World Series which will held in Cary, North Carolina. The finalists will be revealed prior to the beginning of the DII finals.

The Tino Martinez Award is named after the former University of Tampa Spartan, United States Olympian, first round draft pick and MLB All-Star, Tino Martinez.
