GC Baseball Drops 4-2 Game at Valdosta State

VALDOSTA, Ga. – Despite out-hitting the home squad 11-10, the Georgia College baseball team (25-17) lost 4-2 at Valdosta State University (22-14) Tuesday.

Catcher Benton Yaun (Marietta, Ga.) pounded out three singles in four trips, scoring a run as well, as GC led 2-0 after the top of the fourth. An RBI double by Josh Young (Lake Havasu City, Ariz.) preceded a Patrick Daugherty (Kennesaw, Ga.) RBI single to plate the two runs.

VSU answered with three in the sixth and one more in the eighth to put it out of reach.

Lefty starter Matt Kaplan (Alpharetta, Ga.) took the loss (0-2), dealing 5 2/3 innings allowing three runs and fanning three.

Young finished 2-for-4 with the RBI, while rightfielder Bryce Williams (Manhattan, Kan.) was 2-for-4, scoring once. The 7-8-9 spots in the GC order were a combined 7-for-12 with two runs and an RBI.

The Bobcats are back in action tomorrow, April 18 at 6 p.m., hosting Toccoa Falls College.
