SAVANNAH, Ga. – The Georgia College & State University baseball team (40-16) earned a trip to the NCAA Division II World Series last week, and was rewarded also with the team’s highest ranking of the season in a pair of polls. The Bobcats were positioned fourth in the most recent Collegiate Baseball Magazine Top-30, adding a No. 5 slot in the Ping!Baseball National Top-30.

The Bobcats led five Peach Belt Conference (PBC) schools in the Collegiate Baseball Magazine poll, voted on by the nation’s coaches. Francis Marion University was eighth, with Columbus State University bringing in a top-10 ranking in 10th. No. 21 North Georgia and No. 26 UNC Pembroke finish out the conference’s quintet.

In the Ping!Baseball poll, Georgia College jumped seven spots from 12th to No. 5. Just three PBC programs made this list, with FMU coming in at No. 8 and Columbus State ranked No. 11.

The Bobcats are back in action Wednesday, May 26 at 3 p.m., taking on the loser of the UC-San Diego/University of Southern Missouri winner’s bracket contest.
