Georgia College Cross Country team Volunteers at Habitat for Humanity Heroes 5K

MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga – The GC Cross Country team volunteered at the 6th Annual Habitat Hero 5K at the Oconee River Greenway on April 7.

This is the second year the Bobcats have volunteered at the Heroes 5K, and Head Coach Steven Cary feels it’s important for his team to be involved with the community. Cary contacted Habitat for Humanity last year and they said the race was one of the ways the team could get involved. The team usually helps on the course as monitors, enabling them to mingle with the runners throughout the day.

“Cheering on the locals is what it’s all about,” said Cary. “In a small way it makes us feel like we’re helping someone reach their fitness goal. It’s a win-win for us – we get to support the local jogger, while assisting an organization that does so much to help those in need around our community.”
