AUGUSTA, Ga. – The Georgia College Tennis teams recently wrapped up another impressive season, and will have another pair of plaques for the trophy case. The Peach Belt Conference (PBC) has awarded the Bobcat Women’s and Men’s Tennis teams with the PBC Team Sportsmanship Awards for their respective sports.
The program presents an award following each championship season to the team in that sport that best exemplifies the spirit of sportsmanship and generally conducts themselves with a high degree of integrity, character and class. The team award is selected by other teams who compete in that sport.
The most recent Bobcat sports team to pull in sportsmanship honors was the 2014-15 GC Men’s Basketball team. The awards have been given out starting in the 2008-09 season. The Georgia College Men’s Tennis team won a co-award with Georgia Southwestern State University in 2012-13, and this year marks the first for the GC Women.
The Georgia College Department of Athletics, two-time winners of the PBC Commissioner's Cup, sponsors 11 varsity athletic programs at the NCAA Division II level. As a Division II program, Bobcat Athletics prides itself on balancing the life of the student-athlete, evidenced by the teams' multiple appearances in post-season competition as well as documented academic success and community-service involvement.
