MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. – The list of participating schools has been released for the annual Bobcat Invitational race set to take place Oct. 20 at 8:30 a.m.
There will be top-level competition in both the men's and women's races this weekend. There are strong teams from both the south, and southeast regions attending the race. Some of the notable southeast teams include Augusta University (third in DII Southeast Region) and University of North Carolina Pembroke (fourth in DII Southeast Region). Georgia College is ranked 10th in the DII Southeast Region. From the DII South Region, a strong group of teams will be present including second ranked University of Alabama-Huntsville and seventh ranked University of Tampa. Emory University, ranked 31st nationally in DIII will also be in attendance along with Florida A&M University who are seventh in the DI South Region.
The competition is just as stiff on the Women's side. From the DII Southeast Region, Augusta (10th) is the only other ranked team outside of hosts Georgia College (sixth). Alabama Huntsville and University of Montevallo represent the DII South Region ranked second and eighth respectively. The Emory women's team will also be running on Saturday, they are ranked 1st in the DIII South/Southeast Region and 28th in the nation. There will be strong DI runners on the women's side as well. Florida State University will be in attendance, ranked fifth in the DI South Region and 29th in the nation
The races will take place at the Council Farm Course in Milledgeville with the men's race beginning at 8:30 a.m. and the women's race taking place at 9:30 a.m. The address for the course is 2048 Council McCranie Road.
