GC Women’s Tennis Finishes Season #38 in ITA National Poll

TEMPE, Ariz. – The Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) released its final Division II Women's Tennis National Rankings, with Georgia College (12-11, 7-5 PBC) and head coach Steve Barsby taking the No. 38 spot.

The Bobcats are sixth among the seven Peach Belt Conference (PBC) schools on the list, led by No. 4 Columbus State University. Armstrong State University comes in No. 5, with Flagler College eighth, Francis Marion University No. 23. No. 26 University of North Georgia is in front of the Bobcats, while No. 43 Young Harris College rounds out the conference schools.  Barry University takes the No. 1 spot after winning this season's National Championship.

The Bobcats hold wins over two teams in front of them in the national rankings, beating No. 26 North Georgia and No. 27 University of West Alabama.

The 2017 season has come to a close for GC Women's Tennis, their 23rd straight year with an appearance in the NCAA Tournament. Juniors Jena Kelly and Emma Niemi earned a slot on the All-PBC Second Team in doubles, as the Bobcats finished 12-11 with wins over four nationally-ranked teams.
