TEMPE, Ariz. – The Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) released its final Division II Women's Tennis Regional Rankings, with Georgia College (12-11, 7-5 PBC) taking the No. 6 spot in the Southeast Region.
The Bobcats finish sixth, as all five in front are Peach Belt Conference (PBC) programs. Columbus State University takes the top slot, followed by Armstrong State University, Flagler College, Francis Marion University and the University of North Georgia.
The top Georgia College doubles pairing also earned a slot in the region ranks, coming in sixth as well. Juniors Jena Kelly (Lawrenceville, Georgia) and Emma Niemi (Cumming, Georgia) went 11-10 this season, including an 8-4 PBC mark, taking All-PBC Second Team honors as well.
The 2017 season has come to a close for GC Women's Tennis, their 23rd straight year with an appearance in the NCAA Tournament. Kelly and Niemi earned a slot on the All-PBC Second Team in doubles, as the Bobcats finished 12-11 with wins over four nationally-ranked teams.
