MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. – The Georgia College Women's Soccer and Men's Basketball teams recently participated in National Read Across America Day March 1 in celebration of Dr. Seuss' birthday.

National Read Across America Day is an annual reading celebration that takes place in elementary schools, libraries and community centers across the country on Dr. Seuss' birthday.

Members from both the Women's Soccer and Men's Basketball teams visited schools in Baldwin County and read some of Dr. Seuss' books to students.

Head soccer coach Hope Clark visited Lakeview Primary with her players, making this the ninth year she and her team have taken part in celebrating Dr. Seuss' birthday.

"Read Across America is one of my favorite community service [opportunities]," Clark said.  "We can really engage the kids with [his books] … They're just kind of silly, but they also have some really great messages within the books."

Community engagement and service continue to be pillars within GC Athletics.
