MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. -- Senior Unnbjorg Omarsdottir (Reykjavik, Iceland) was undeniably a weekend hero for the No. 22 Georgia College Women's soccer team (4-0). She netted perhaps the goal of the year against the University of Montevallo Falcons, and played stellar defense that helped toward two shutouts.
Omarsdottir is part of a back line that has been perfect so far this season. Georgia College is one of 10 Division II Women's Soccer teams nationwide that have not allowed a goal to be scored against them yet this season.
The goal that earned Omarsdottir Bobcat Athlete of the Week was an absolute stunner. She lined up for a free kick that was outside of the box on the left side of the goal and launched her shot to the top right side. The shot ended up in the side netting in the blink of an eye and would hold up for the game-winning goal against Montevallo.
Omarsdottir and crew are now 4-0 on the year and are approaching conference play. The Bobcats continue their season in a neutral site battle with the University of Tampa tonight in Valdosta
