MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. – The Georgia College Women's Basketball team (10-12, 8-8 PBC) hung with Clayton State University (15-7, 11-5 PBC) for a half, but a dominant 25-6 effort in the third quarter put the Bobcats too far behind, finishing in a 63-48 loss.

Halftime saw the Bobcats up 29-27, but the Lakers came out of the break on fire. The Bobcats got into a scoring drought early in the third quarter, resulting in a 23-2 run for Clayton State. The loss snapped a four-game win streak for the Bobcats.

Sophomore Keyonna Wesley (Pearson) and senior Sydney Cleveland (Gainesville) shared the team lead with 11 points each. Wesley hit half of her shots (4-8) and pulled in five boards. Cleveland nabbed five rebounds as well. Junior Dail Adaway (Tifton) had a near double-double, grabbing a game-high 10 boards with six points.

The Bobcats had a rough shooting night, hitting just 27 percent (17-62) from the field, compared to 36 percent (24-66) for the Lakers. The Bobcats also got out-rebounded 55-39, including 21 offensive rebounds for CSU, resulting in 18 second-chance points.

The loss puts Georgia College at 8-8 in Peach Belt Conference (PBC) play, good for fifth in the league standings.

The Bobcats are back in action Saturday, Feb. 16 at 3:30 p.m., playing host to Augusta University (5-17, 4-12 PBC) for GC's annual Homecoming game. The Jaguars most recently lost at UNC Pembroke tonight, 68-48.
