NEW ORLEANS, La. – The United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) released its most recent round of region rankings with Georgia College Men’s Cross Country taking fifth in the Southeast Region. The fifth-place ranking marks a noticeable improvement for the Bobcats, who were ranked ninth in the prior week’s poll.
Only two other Peach Belt Conference (PBC) teams rank higher than the Bobcats in the latest poll, which includes Augusta University (third) and UNC Pembroke (fourth). Overall, the PBC holds five of the top-10 rankings in the Southeast region, with the University of Mount Olive from the Conference Carolinas occupying the No. 1 spot.
The top-five ranking comes on the heels of an impressive showing at the Louisville Classic, which saw the Bobcats finish second behind only the Indiana University Run Club in a crowded 35 team field. Georgia College comes up just one spot shy of the all-time program best ranking of fourth place in 2015.
The Bobcats return to action Saturday, Oct. 20 with their only home meet, the Bobcat Invitational.
