TEMPE, Ariz. – The Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) released its ITA Scholar-Athlete list this week, with four members of the Georgia College Men's Tennis team earning honors.
Rising senior Jannik Kumbier (Neumunster, Germany), rising junior Robin Moller (Hamburg, Germany) and rising freshmen Gabriel Caron (Johns Creek, Georgia) and Noah Wallace (Grayson, Georgia) each picked up the organization's top academic honor.
This honor is given to all varsity letterwinners with two semesters at current school and at least a 3.50 GPA for the 2017-18 school year. This marks the third appearance on the list for Kumbier and the first for the remaining three.
Bobcat Men's Tennis had a school-best five on the list in 2015. Kumbier is the first three-time honoree since Jerome Leborgne in 2012.
The Bobcats get the season underway with a fall tournament schedule coming shortly. GC Men's Tennis went 11-11 in 2018, advancing to the NCAA Southeast Regional for the 12th straight season. The Bobcats will look to Kumbier as the lone senior for leadership this season after losing an All-American in Pedro Ecenarro.
