PENSACOLA, Fla. – The No. 20 Georgia College tennis squad (7-4) fell to No. 15 Midwestern State University (9-3) 6-3 Wednesday.
Taylor Powell (Martinez, Georgia) and Jannik Kumbier (Neumunster, Germany) lost to Ramon Toyos and Tomas Grejtak 8-6 in the second slot. Third doubles was a shutout win for Kacper Boborykin and Chris Norrie over Mattia Campus (Concorezzo, Italy) and Kyle Kinsler (Suwanee, Georgia).
The Bobcats split singles action 3-3. Anton Waern (Taby, Sweden) beat Norrie in the fourth slot 6-2, 6-3, while the other two went three sets each. Campus edged Keegan Sullivan 7-5, 5-7, 10-5 in the fifth slot, the Bobcat junior improving to 5-1 this season.
Classmate Powell ran his season mark to 7-2 with a 4-6, 6-4, 7-6 win over Matt Tyer in the sixth slot.
Boborykin topped No. 22 Hass in the first slot 6-4, 1-6, 6-3 and in second singles, No. 32 Davidson slipped by Castermans 4-6, 6-3, 6-0. Midwestern State also won third singles, as Toyos beat Kumbier 6-3, 6-1.
The Bobcats are back in action Friday, March 20 at 11 a.m., squaring off with No. 1 University of West Florida.
