GC Golf Takes Eighth at PBC championship

ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. – The Georgia College Golf team climbed one spot on the final day of the 2018 Peach Belt Conference (PBC) Championship Sunday, finishing in eighth place after a final round of 20-over.

The Bobcats shot rounds of 300, 306 and 308 for a total of plus-50 on the par-72, 6,939-yard Slammer and Squire course. They finished eight shots ahead of the University of North Georgia and three behind seventh place Clayton State University in the nine-team field.  

Senior Thomas Hodges (Monroe, Georgia) had the best round of any Bobcat today with a three-over 75, carding three birdies on the day. Hodges finished 23rd overall in the 45-golfer field, the second-best score on the team at 11-over par with rounds of 74 and 78.  

The best effort for Georgia College over the three days came from sophomore Austin Mancilla (Lawrenceville, Georgia), posting a 10-over score good for 18th place. Mancilla had rounds of 77 and 73 to go with today's 76.

Third on the team and 35th overall was Justin Connelly (McDonough, Georgia) at plus-16, carding rounds of 70 and 83 with today's 79.

Sophomore Drew Duffie (Evans, Georgia) was 38th at 18-over, scoring rounds of 79 and 77 with a 78 today. Freshman Daniel Davis (Columbus, Georgia) was 42nd with rounds of 84, 78 and an 81 today.

No. 9 USC Aiken took the team title with a 14-under score, running away from No. 11 Columbus State University by 14 strokes. The individual title went to USCA's Johnson Holliday, finishing eight-under par.
