MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. – The Georgia College Golf program is set to host their annual home tournament, the Bobcat Invitational at Cuscowilla on Lake Oconee, March 20-21.
The 2017 Invite consists of a powerhouse field that includes the top-five schools in the country with the University of West Florida, Lynn University, Florida Southern College, Barry University and Nova Southeastern University. A total of 12 schools that rank in the national top-25 according to GolfStat will be participating in the annual event.
This will be the Bobcats' fourth tournament of their Spring 2017 campaign. Their best finish of the spring came at the Pirate Invitational hosted by Armstrong State University, where they finished seventh.
Cuscowilla on Lake Oconee is a par 70, 6,730-yard golf course designed by Bill Coore and Ben Crenshaw. Participants will take on the challenging links-style golf course with 36 holes this Monday, March 20.
Defending champ Lynn returns after shooting 24-over on the tough course last year, beating the field by nine strokes. The Fighting Knights' Jose Andres Miranda also took individual honors, firing even par for the three rounds. Miranda does not return to the Lynn roster this season, as he was a senior last year. The last three years has featured different team champions, as Nova Southeastern took the title in 2015 and USC Aiken in 2014.
