ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. – With action beginning tomorrow, the Georgia College Baseball team (25-19) will look for its third-straight Peach Belt Conference (PBC) Tournament Championship this weekend at Flagler College.
The Bobcats took the No. 5-seed and will play in Pool A against, No. 1-seed University of North Georgia, No. 8-seed Georgia Southwestern State University and No. 4-seed Young Harris College. The Bobcats went 6-1 against these three teams during the regular season.
Play begins for the Bobcats Friday, May 10 at 1:30 p.m. against YHC, then comes a split doubleheader Saturday, starting with GSW at 10 a.m. and finishing with PBC Regular-Season Champion UNG at 5 p.m., both games in Palatka at St. John's River State College.
The Bobcats lead the PBC in batting average at .311 and are fifth in runs at 315. The team ERA of 4.59 also ranks fifth.
GC is led at the plate by junior second baseman Cal Gentry (Perry, Georgia) hitting .429 with 40 runs and 30 RBIs. Freshman centerfielder Cam Hill (Marietta, Georgia) was named PBC Freshman of the Week a league-record five times. Junior Kyle King (Johns Creek) has been sharp since a move to the weekend rotation, going 3-0 with a 3.84 ERA and 56 strikeouts in 56 2/3 innings.
