AUGUSTA, Ga. – Senior Logan Mattix (Loganville) of the No. 27 Georgia College Baseball team (14-6, 11-1 PBC) has been named Peach Belt Conference (PBC) Player of the Week for the week ending March 11.
Mattix had a whopper of a series against Francis Marion University this weekend, going 9-for-12 (.750) with 11 RBIs and four runs scored. In the series opener Friday, he had three hits, finishing a double shy of the cycle, and drove in four. He followed that up with a 4-for-5 effort with four more RBIs in the doubleheader opener Saturday. Mattix scored four runs, did not strike out in 12 at-bats and stole a base in his only attempt. He currently leads the PBC with 25 RBIs on the year, is fifth in batting average, third in triples and total bases and eighth in slugging.
Mattix wins the first weekly conference honor for Bobcat Baseball this season. It's the first such honor for the senior outfielder in his career, as he did pull in three PBC Freshman of the Year Awards in 2015. He is the first PBC Player of the Week for GC Baseball since Brandon Benson won the honor April 10, 2017.
The Bobcats are back in action Tuesday, March 13 at 4 p.m., playing host to Albany State University.
