AUGUSTA, Ga. – The Peach Belt Conference (PBC) released its weekly baseball honors Monday, with Georgia College's (16-7, 5-4 PBC) Cal Gentry (Perry) bringing in PBC Freshman of the Week.
Gentry set the table amazingly well at UNC Pembroke this weekend, to the tune of a .667 on-base percentage. He had two three-hit games and another with two hits, scoring six total runs. He also went 8-for-13 for the week (.615). His best game came in the 9-6 win Sunday, going 3-for-4 with three runs and a walk. The rookie third baseman is sixth in the PBC with a .420 batting average.
This marks the first such honor for both Gentry and the Bobcat Baseball team this season. The most recent PBC Freshman of the Week for GC Baseball was pitcher Bradley Spinner (Roswell) taking the honor May 2, 2016.
The Bobcats are back in action Tuesday, March 21 at 4 p.m., hosting Erskine College.
